So little time, so many brilliant shows and movies to binge on! If you’re planning a movie night or need some fresh new media in your life, Paramount+ will be music to your ears.
What is Paramount+?
“We are thrilled to launch Paramount+ as the next generation of entertainment experiences for our fans,” said Bob Bakish, President and CEO of ViacomCBS Interactive, in his exciting announcement.
“Paramount+ is designed to access all that makes our brands iconic – across movies, comedy, news, sports, and more – all through the lens of technology and innovation.”
You heard it here, guys—movies, comedy, news, sports, and more. Your evenings just got a little more entertaining.
CBS’s direct-to-consumer business has taken on new importance in the era of cord-cutters and cord shavers. The entrance of Paramount+ into the space shows how cable networks are competing with standalone services that offer all-inclusive access to high-quality content.
Who Paramount+ Will Be Competing With
Other such services include WarnerMedia’s HBO Max, Disney’s recently announced Disney+, and NBCUniversal’s soon-to-debut NBCU streaming service.
The new platform will join streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video in this crowded field. But ViacomCBS is no newcomer to the entertainment industry. Currently, the studio is one of the biggest providers of video content for online platforms. You can trust there will be plenty of superb entertainment coming from Paramount Plus.
Given how crowded the marketplace is for on-demand video streaming services, Paramount Plus needs to be ambitious if it wishes to become a top competitor.
Do you need help in deciding if this is your next favorite Friday night activity? Let’s look at all you need to know about the new service.
What Can You Watch on Paramount+?
Paramount+ is the newest of video streaming services on the market and a rebranding of CBS All Access. Meaning, there’s no shortage of grand entertainment! After all, it includes all the programming from CBS All Access and then some!
That means you can still watch the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand, Why Women Kill, The Good Fight, and Star Trek: Picard. Of course, there will be plenty more shows added in from across ViacomCBS’ networks—30,000 shows, to be exact. Boredom? Never heard of it.
Paramount+ will also offer a slew of new originals to watch, including a captivating spy drama called Lioness from the creator of Yellowstone. And yes, the beloved CBS All Access series Yellowstone and will be available on Paramount Plus.
If there’s one thing we know about the service, it’s that there will undoubtedly be no shortage of magnificent shows and movies to check out. That’s to say nothing about all the live stations you’ll have access to, like CBS, ET LIVE, CBSN, and CBS Sports HQ.
Another great perk? With Paramount+, you’ll also be able to watch your local CBS affiliate without the hassle and extra expense of buying a cable package deal.
When Will It Be Released?
Ready to plan your next movie night? The date to set on your calendar is March 4th. That’s when Paramount+ will debut! You’ll get access to all the entertainment and news goodness, plus everything currently available through CBS All Access.
Though the streaming service will be available globally, it will first roll out in Latin America, the United States, and Canada (though Canada won’t see the full version until later in the year).
For the Nordic countries, Paramount+ will be available on March 25th. While Australia doesn’t have an exact release date yet, it will watch along with us all a little later in 2021.
How Much Will It Cost?
The pricing for the service isn’t available yet. However, if it’s anything like the pricing for CBS All Access, it won’t be too hard on our wallets for the endless entertainment it offers. Currently, CBS All Access is $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year.
How Can I Watch Paramount+?
Are you wondering what streaming devices support CBS All Access and Paramount+? Unless you’re trying to stream your favorite show through a vintage Super Nintendo, you’ll be able to watch what you want to watch where you want to watch it.
